What is a single level fully automatic CPAP? Who is it suitable for?

By Gavin | February 01, 2023

The single-level, fully automatic CPAP is currently the most mainstream model among sleep caps. The single-level fully automatic CPAP has a higher comfort level than the single-level fixed pressure CPAP. The price is lower than the double-level fully automatic CPAP, so 80% of people who snore will now choose to buy a single-level fully automatic cpap. Since it is now the mainstream model, what kind of CPAP is a single-level, fully automatic CPAP?

What is a single-level, fully automatic CPAP?

A uni-level CPAP is a type of CPAP that delivers airflow in one direction, and the pressure varies automatically with airway resistance. In layperson's terms, the airflow is uni-directional. The airflow will always be delivered to the airway, whether you are in the inhalation phase or the exhalation phase. The airflow pressure will automatically rise or fall according to the resistance of the airway, increasing when there is snoring and apnoea and decreasing when there is no apnoea or snoring. Single-level fully automatic caps are much more comfortable than single-level fixed pressure caps.

The single-level, fully automatic CPAP is suitable for most snoring and sleep apnoea patients and is currently the preferred model for buying a sleep CPAP. This is because the higher the pressure of a single-level cpap, the higher the relative resistance to exhalation. For example, when the cpap blows out the force of 10 cm of the water column, the person must overcome the pressure of this 10 cm of the water column when exhaling to exhale. This means that single-level, fully automatic caps are suitable for most people but only for a minimal number of high-pressure patients.

What is the difference between single and dual-level fully automatic caps?

Both single and bi-level fully automatic CPAPs can automatically increase or decrease pressure in response to airway resistance. The main difference between these two CPAPs is that the bi-level cpap can adjust the exhalation pressure so that the person feels relaxed when exhaling. The cpap can change two forces: the inspiratory pressure is the expiratory pressure when inhaling. The cpap provides tremendous pressure when exhaling. The cpap pressure will automatically drop, and the pressure drop can be adjusted. From the characteristics of the dual level fully automatic cpap, double level fully automatic cpap compared to single level fully automatic cpap has two adjustable pressure, use down the comfort level to be higher, dual level. The dual-level fully automatic cpap is also one of the most comfortable sleep CPAPs available.
